Samsung Unveils Galaxy S25 Edge: A Stunning Blend of Slim Design and Flagship Power

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S25 Edge, a new addition to its flagship S-series lineup — and its thinnest yet. With a sleek 5.8mm profile and weighing just 163 grams, the S25 Edge pushes the boundaries of smartphone design, focusing on ultra-thin portability without completely sacrificing performance.

Borrowing much of its design language and features from the Galaxy S25 and S25 Ultra, the Galaxy S25 Edge is built with what Samsung describes as a blend of “precise design intentions with powerful performance.” While the phone is a triumph in minimalism, the trade-offs made to achieve this form factor are noticeable, particularly for users who prioritize photography and battery endurance.

One of the biggest omissions is the lack of a dedicated telephoto camera. Instead, Samsung has equipped the S25 Edge with a dual rear camera system: a 200MP main camera—identical to the one in the S25 Ultra—with an f/1.7 aperture and large 1/1.3-type sensor, and a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera with macro capabilities. To make up for the missing zoom lens, the main camera offers 2x and 10x crop modes. The 2x mode utilizes native pixel sampling for better quality, while the 10x zoom relies on AI upscaling.

Battery life is another area where Samsung made concessions. While exact figures weren’t provided in the official announcement, the company hinted that battery performance won’t be a strong point — an expected trade-off given the extremely slim design and the smaller battery it houses. Users who prioritize long battery life may want to look at the standard Galaxy S25 or the more robust S25 Ultra.

Despite its slim build, the Galaxy S25 Edge delivers flagship-level performance thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip — the same powerhouse found in the S25 Ultra. It also debuts the new Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, offering both strength and display clarity on this ultra-thin device.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy S25 Edge are now open through Amazon, Best Buy, Samsung’s website, and major carriers. The phone will be available starting May 30, priced at $1,100 for the 256GB model and $1,220 for the 512GB variant.
