New Nikon Z9 Firmware Update Coming Soon (to Improve AF)

A new Nikon Z9 firmware update with enhanced autofocus (AF) acquisition is rumored to be released soon. Initially, I heard that the update would be available by the end of July, in time for the Summer Olympics. However, as with previous reports, there is always a possibility of delays.

The last major update for the Z9 was in March of this year. Given the update cycle, this upcoming release might not be as significant. Nonetheless, Nikon may have focused considerable effort on improving AF performance before the Olympics.

It’s important to note that information about firmware updates can often be inaccurate or the release dates may be incorrect, so it’s best not to get your hopes up too high. It’s probably wise to wait and see when it will be released.

There’s no mention of a firmware update for the Z8 at this time, so it’s possible that it could be released at a later date.
