Canon Will Release a VR Lens under $700 by the end of 2024
The Jananese website Nikkei reports that Canon is expected to release a VR lens priced below 100,000 yen (around $663 USD) by the end of this year.
Canon will launch a camera lens that can easily shoot virtual reality (VR) images for less than 100,000 yen by the end of 2024. We exhibited at the camera exhibition that opened on the 22nd.
Canon exhibited several VR lenses as a reference exhibit at CES 2024 held in January, and also exhibited them at CP+2024 this time, so it is almost certain that they will be released – Canon exhibited its VR lens series: One of these is a new lens with a shape that combines two fisheye lenses.
Canon has a VR lens ” RF 5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE ” in its lineup, but the Canon online shop price is very expensive at 291,500 yen (tax included).
VR lenses that cost less than 100,000 yen (under $700) will appear in the future, and I’m curious to see how popular they will be in the market. I have a feeling that not only full-frame lenses but also APS-C VR lenses will appear in the future. I get the impression that Canon is focusing more on the VR market than competitors such as Sony and Nikon.
